Manufactured from ResCom® Cellular Magnesia Cement board, each nest box has a nest block inside that is attached to the front face. After the nesting season you can remove the screw on the side and the bed lock loosens. This enables you to pull the front of the nest box off and then clean it, ready for the next nesting season. You can find instructions for installing and cleaning the Genesis garden nest boxes by clicking here. All garden nest boxes are provided with a 8mm concrete screw, you should use a 6mm drill bit for the holes. You can use the same screw to fix the nest box to a tree.
The blue garden nest box has a 28 mm entrance and in Ireland is perfect for Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Wren, Great Tit, and Tree Sparrow. The purple garden nest box has a 32 mm hole and perfect for house sparrows. The green garden nest box is ideal for starlings, and the yellow garden nest box can house Robins, Black birds and Wagtails.
You have to insert the yellow nest box deep into a hedgerow so that predator birds or cats can’t access them, as the nest is very open. There is a lifelong guarantee for the waterproof and weatherproof properties of the nest boxes and no fungal growth can attack this material. Squirrels and rats can’t chew on the opening to get to any chicks within the nest box and the roof has aluminum angle fitted to aid waterproofing.
